This is the fourth successive year of the event, which attracted 300 riders last year. It is organised by the Macclesfield & District Lions Club, Bollington Town Council and Adelphi Health Care Solutions. The money raised is for local charities and good causes, including East Cheshire Hospice. To date over £13,000 has been raised. The main sponsor is The Co-operative Society and we have further sponsorship from Roller Banners, Adelphi Mill Properties, Bollington Brewery and The Rudyard Lake Hotel
More of a fun run, the 20 km (12 mile) Twenty gives beginners and families a sense of the occasion of The Grueller, sharing the Grimshaw Lane, Bollington start/finish and award-winning organisation.
A big change for 2015, new route, new feedstation. A bit more rolling than last year but a far far gentler affair than the Grueller. The new route takes in the some of the best of the rolling east Cheshire and North Staffordshire lanes.
We've a totally new route for 2015, more hills, more counties (Cheshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire). There's very little filler, it's straight into the action, the stunning route encompassing narrow wooded valleys and high moorland. Only 65 miles but make no mistake this is a real challenge with over 7000 ft of climbing.
